A Gastroenterologist's Plan to Calm IBS and Eat More, Not Less

You changed your diet. You cut out foods. Your tests came back normal. But you don't feel normal.

If you live with bloating, constipation, cramping, or a gut you can't predict, this book gives you a different place to start.

Your gut is a system with four jobs: signaling, secretion, motility, and sensation. Food is what goes into that system, not the system itself.

THIS BOOK SHOWS YOU HOW TO:

Rule out what can't be missed, before you change anything

Find which of the four jobs to work on first

Calm a gut that flares under stress

Ease bloating by helping your gut keep things moving

Bring foods back to your plate, one at a time, without fear

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Christian Turbide, MD, FRCPC

Christian Turbide, MD, FRCPC, is a gastroenterologist in Calgary, Canada, and a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. He has practiced for more than twenty years and has seen tens of thousands of patients whose tests came back normal while their symptoms did not.

His work rests on a simple idea: the gut is a system with four jobs to do, and food is an input into that system rather than the system itself. When one of the four jobs falls out of step, a person can feel terrible with a clean set of results.

The Gut Calm Method is the way he explains that to the people in his office, written down so it can travel.

He came to the subject the same way most of his patients did. Dairy gave him more gas than it gave anyone else at school, and by medical school constipation and abdominal pain were most of his days.

His own tests were normal too.
